Madré Dicks
Drums & Tiny Tunes
Brief info
My love for music and my musical journey began in childhood. I
studied music theory from primary school through high school and
into university. In 2019, I completed the Unisa Grade 5 Music Theory
exam as well as the practical exam in drums. I am currently finalising
my BMus degree at Unisa.
Over the years, I’ve performed as the drummer for bands such as
Distortion for Emphasis and Ozias.
Music has enriched my life in countless ways: it has shaped my
career, strengthened my academic path, and enhanced my social
skills. I believe everyone should have the chance to study and
experience music. Through my studies in music psychology, I’ve
come to understand that musicking is an inherent human ability,
meaning anyone can start at any age or skill level.

I teach drums and music theory, with a strong emphasis on creating a
safe and supportive learning space for people of all backgrounds,
including those with disabilities and neurodivergent learners. My
teaching environment is open, respectful, and affirming of every
student’s identity.
I am fluent in both English and Afrikaans.
